anyone knows what I can put on this ball thingie from this mouse to make the ball turn easier? I've had it for a few years and works well but seems like the ball needs something to make it roll smooth again.

looks like an optical- do the following:
Remove the red ball.
You will see three or four posts where the ball sits - more than likely they are gummed up with the dirt that it has been collecting. Just take something pointed and push the dirt off - make sure to push down and not pull up as there is a bearing type bead that needs to stay to make the ball roll smoothly.
Blow out any accumulated dust in the bottom of the ball enclosure with a can of comressed air.
Then take the red ball that you removed and use some alocohol hand sanitizer, the stuff that you use without water and it evaporates, and put some in your hand and roll the ball around in it and then let it dry. If you don't have that - just clean it off as best you can with water and a lint free towel
replace the ball into the trackball base and that should do it.
